Felton Remembers: Memorial Day Parade and Festival
"Felton Remembers" Memorial Day weekend parade and Covered Bridge Festival...
Every year on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the FBA sponsors and provides all the prodigious Volunteer effort to plan, organize and present "Felton Remembers" which draws large crowds of people to our community.
This is a family event featuring a traditional parade honoring those who have seved our country in the military service. After the parade, the Covered Bridge Festival is held at Covered Bridge Park. A relatively recent addition to the parade, the Festival has grown during the past few years into an event which now features live music, vendors who sell food, beer, wine and soft drinks and specialty items. Booths promoting local artists and non-profit organizations, jump houses and festival games for the kids. are all part of the current Festival.
Felton Holiday Tree Lighting & Santas Arrival
Felton's Heritage Tree, located at the deck in the middle of Felton ... is illuminated by an army of Volunteers including professional tree climbers & electricians.
Two years ago the FBA decided that it was time Santa added Felton to his itinerary, so local youngsters can visit with him right here in town, and last year he showed up wearing a brand new and very classy suit.
Last years' ceremony was the best ever, with a great crowd several people deep along the sidewalk and on the deck. As a new addition to the program, the Santa Cruz Chorale sang carols beneath the tree and the audience enjoyed homemade cookies, hot cider and chocolate while they waited for Santa to arrive on a fire engine.
After the Jolly Old Elf turned the tree lights on, the kids and their parents followed him to his parlor in the firehouse, where they received a free color photo to commemorate their visit with Santa, courtesy of the FBA.
Annual FBA Barbecue for Members and Guests
Every September, the FBA sponsors a Fall barbecue at Henry Cowell State Park for members and their guests.
Although there is a nominal charge for the barbecue—which includes serve-yourself wine, beer and/or soft drinks—the chicken, beef, salad, French bread and desserts are prepared to perfection by our Volunteer chefs, and a bargain to boot!
The winner of the "Sonja Tuffley Award" for the person(s) deemed to have contributed most to the FBA during the previous year is announced during the barbecue. Otherwise, there's no business conducted except the business of fun and conviviality to celebrate the end of a busy summer season.

Parade and Covered Bridge Festival 09
Thanks to everyone for the best Felton Remembers Parade and Covered Bridge Festival ever. The community came out to celebrate together with great music, food and art. The sun was out and everyone seemed to be in great spirits. This is a great effort, put forth by the Felton Business Association for the community. So much planning and preparation goes into these events each year, it takes a lot of work from our dedicated business owners to make it happen.
